What AI does in our work

• We use AI-assisted tools to move faster on the parts of consulting that reward speed:
• Research and source gathering
• Drafting and document formatting
• Data organization, pattern-finding, and visualization
• First-pass analysis that a THG team member then tests
• That work gets done better and faster with AI in the loop. We are direct about that.

What AI does not do

• Every deliverable that carries our name is directed and reviewed by a human being. AI does not decide your strategy, interpret your findings, or sign off on your work.
• Strategic direction is authored by THG team members
• Professional judgment and recommendations are made by THG team members
• Every client deliverable is reviewed by a named person before it reaches you
• Your engagement is led by people, not by a system
• We call this human-in-the-loop, and it is not a marketing line. It is how the work is structured.

Content provenance and AI marking

AI providers have begun embedding machine-readable marks in AI-generated text and images, driven in part by transparency requirements under the EU AI Act. Those marks can indicate that an AI model processed a piece of content. They do not indicate who authored the thinking behind it, and a document that has been edited, reformatted, or combined with other writing may carry no detectable mark at all.

That is why we do not rely on detection tools to establish authorship. We keep our own record. For every engagement, THG retains the human working files behind the deliverable: outlines, notes, drafts, and revision history. If a funder, board, or reviewer ever asks how a document was produced, we can answer with documentation rather than assurances.

Your information

We take your privacy seriously. Client information is treated as confidential, is not used to train AI models, is not shared with third parties, and is used solely in service of your project.

Every client-facing document we produce carries a disclosure note stating this. You should not have to ask.

Questions

If your organization has an AI use policy we need to work within, tell us early and we will build to it. If you do not have one yet, that is a conversation worth having, and it is work we do.
